- 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter

- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef or vegetable broth
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Melt the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Pour in the broth and balsamic vinegar, then add the thyme along with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 5-10 minutes.
- Stir in the cooked pasta and mix well to coat evenly.
- Top with Gruyere cheese and cover the skillet until the cheese melts.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
