Description
A delightful twist on the classic apple pie, featuring a rich caramel sauce that enhances the flavor of fresh apples.
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
- 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until apples are well coated.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie pan.
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust and drizzle with caramel sauce.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Seal and flute the edges, then cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Let the pie cool before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- Serve with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
