Description

A delightful twist on the classic apple pie, featuring a rich caramel sauce that enhances the flavor of fresh apples.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (2 crusts)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until apples are well coated.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie pan.
  4. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust and drizzle with caramel sauce.
  5. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Seal and flute the edges, then cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  6. Brush the top crust with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  8. Let the pie cool before serving. Enjoy!
