Hi! I’m Zoe M. Calderón — the founder of Sipresh and the person behind every recipe you’ll find here.
I’m a home cook and recipe developer based in Los Angeles, with roots that stretch back to my family’s kitchen in Bologna, Italy. I believe everyday cooking should feel intuitive, satisfying, and completely stress-free.
Sipresh exists because great meals don’t require perfection, exotic ingredients, or culinary school training. They just need clear instructions, good flavors, and recipes that actually work in real kitchens.
My Background
Location: Los Angeles, California (with regular time in Bologna, Italy)
Education: BA in Nutritional Science, University of Bologna
Experience: 15+ years developing and testing recipes for everyday home cooking
I grew up in a traditional Italian household where food was never just fuel — it was how we connected, celebrated, and showed care. My mother taught me that the best dishes come from simple ingredients treated with respect and attention.
After studying Nutritional Science in Bologna, I spent years working in wellness consulting, helping people build healthier relationships with food. But I kept noticing the same frustration: people wanted to eat well, but recipes felt either too restrictive or too complicated.
That gap is what led me to create Sipresh.
Why I Started Sipresh
In 2019, I found myself burned out from work and disconnected from the kitchen. Cooking had become another box to check rather than something I actually enjoyed.
One Sunday evening, I made a simple dinner — nothing fancy, just roasted chicken with herbs, roasted vegetables, and a salad my nonna used to make. The smell filled the apartment. My husband lingered at the table. We talked longer than planned.
That night reminded me what I’d been missing: the ritual of cooking, the pleasure of sharing a meal, and the way good food naturally slows you down.
I started documenting my recipes, testing them obsessively, and sharing them with friends. Within a year, those friends were asking for more. Sipresh grew from there — first as a blog, then as something bigger.
What Makes Sipresh Different
Every recipe on this site goes through multiple rounds of testing. I cook each dish at least three times before publishing, adjusting for timing, clarity, and real-world kitchen conditions.
My approach is guided by three principles:
Approachable ingredients: You won’t find specialty items that require a trip to three different stores. If I can’t buy it at a standard grocery store, it doesn’t make it into a Sipresh recipe.
Tested instructions: I write every step the way I actually cook — with realistic timing, helpful tips, and transparency about what can go wrong. If something needs attention at a specific moment, I’ll tell you.
Balanced nutrition: My background in Nutritional Science informs how I build recipes, but I never sacrifice flavor for the sake of “being healthy.” Food should nourish you and taste incredible.
What You’ll Find at Sipresh
I focus on four main categories, each designed to make everyday meals feel special:
Breakfast: Recipes that set the tone for your morning without requiring an alarm at 5 a.m. Think savory egg dishes, baked oatmeal, and weekend pancakes.
Dinner: Comforting, satisfying meals that work for both weeknights and special occasions. From one-pan chicken dinners to slow-cooked stews, these recipes are built for real schedules.
Desserts: Indulgent treats that don’t require pastry skills. These desserts taste impressive but use straightforward techniques.
Drinks: Refreshing beverages for any occasion — from morning smoothies to evening mocktails and everything in between.
“Good food doesn’t need rules — it needs care.”
— Zoe, Sipresh
Meet The Team Behind Sipresh
Jason Miller — Recipe Tester & Kitchen Assistant
Jason Miller assists with recipe testing and troubleshooting. He cooks each recipe the way most readers would — after work, with limited time, and using ingredients from a regular grocery store. If something feels confusing or doesn’t work as written, Jason flags it so I can refine the instructions. His perspective keeps Sipresh grounded in reality.

Why Readers Trust Sipresh
Since launching in 2020, Sipresh has grown into a trusted resource for home cooks who want reliable recipes without the fluff.
Here’s what makes our content trustworthy:
Rigorous testing: Every recipe is cooked multiple times before it’s published. I test for flavor, timing, texture, and clarity — and if something doesn’t work, I scrap it.
Transparent processes: I tell you when a step is critical, when something can be substituted, and when you need to pay close attention. No hidden assumptions or skipped details.
Real kitchen conditions: I test recipes in my home kitchen using standard equipment. If I call for a Dutch oven, it’s because the recipe truly benefits from it — not because it sounds impressive.
Reader feedback: When readers report issues, I revisit the recipe, test it again, and update the post. This site improves because of the community using it.
