How It All Began

I grew up in a family that loved hosting gatherings. Food was always at the center, but drinks were the spark that brought everyone together. Early in my bartending career, I realized how powerful a well-crafted cocktail could be — it set the mood, started conversations, and made people feel included.

But I also noticed something else: many people felt left out if they didn’t want to drink alcohol. I’d watch guests quietly sip water while everyone else clinked glasses. That didn’t sit right with me. Everyone deserves a drink that feels festive.

The Moment That Changed My Path

In my late 20s, I injured my back and had to step away from bartending for a while. During that downtime, I began experimenting in my kitchen, playing with fresh juices, herbs, spices, and teas. I created alcohol-free versions of some of my favorite cocktails — mojitos, margaritas, and spritzes — and was surprised by how refreshing (and fun) they were.

The real lightbulb moment? Serving these drinks to friends at a barbecue. They loved them, and no one even missed the alcohol. That’s when I knew: I didn’t just want to make drinks. I wanted to make inclusive celebrations.

Lessons From the Mixology World

Working behind the bar taught me a lot, but also humbled me. I learned the hard way that presentation matters just as much as taste. Early on, I’d serve mocktails in plain glasses without garnishes, and people treated them like “just juice.”

I also fell into the trap of overcomplicating recipes. Fifteen ingredients might impress on paper, but no one wants to recreate that at home. What Sipresh has taught me is to balance creativity with accessibility — drinks should be exciting but not overwhelming.
